All Boys Boarding Schools in Alabama are varied in their consistency and appropriateness for your troubled boy or girl. We have found that some schools cater more to troubled teens who are in need of intense therapy, other schools are clearly geared to locking down troubled kids in their facilities and giving them no room to grow or make mistakes. Some programs are academic in nature and kids who have problems such as discipline issues, ADHD, focus problems, and/or foul language concerns are better matched in Leadership Schools, Boarding Schools, or Academic Programs.

For troubled teens who have more serious problems like drug and alcohol abuse or mental health issues, residential treatment centers would be more helpful. These are lockdown facilities that have medical staff to provide therapy and medical attention around the clock. An alternative to a residential treatment center is a wilderness program, which helps teens cope with their drug dependencies by teaching them survival skills and how to work as part of a team.
