There are several different types of troubled teen programs that are available in Alaska for parents of a troubled teen in need of help or treatment. These programs offer a wide range of treatment and services depending on the needs of the troubled teen. Alternative education programs help teens who have difficulty with school because of behavior problems or ADHD and are potential dropouts. Group homes, which are sometimes called residential treatment centers, provide treatment and therapy for teens who have mental disorders or who are victims of abuse or neglect and have been put there by social servers.
