Dawn Bauer McIntyre | Family Hope Line Family Advocate

Dawn Bauer McIntyre is the founder of the Family Hope Line, a Family Advocate Firm located in St Simons Island, Georgia.  Dawn, a certified Parent Coach and DISC certified facilitator, offers family advocacy and support to parents who may be dealing with a troubled teen or young adult. Family Hope Line was founded in 2009 after she enrolled her 14 year old son into a Christian Therapeutic Boarding School for Troubled Teens.  She had spent time working as a Family Advocate and had two other sons who were thriving, successful, and headed for a powerful future and the youngest seemed to have equal gifts but making terrible choices.  As a single mother Dawn struggled with him, as he was dynamic, strong-willed, and swam against the current.  He had is own way of looking at life, and felt misunderstood.

Dawn's 14 year old was bright, athletic, and had a great personality.  He was also very gifted and brought up in a home of unconditional love, emotional support, and integrity.  Unfortunately, some teens do not feel "understood". He was angry.  Dawn, unknowingly, was at the crossroads.  The experience of enrolling her son in a therapeutic boarding school literally changed her life.  Later, she joined the Admissions Staff of the therapeutic boarding school her son attended.  She was very successful as an advocate for families and troubled teens.  She earned the Admissions Director position and the rest is history.  In 2009 Dawn ventured on her own, helping parents and families across the nation find the perfect solution for their troubled teen.

Dawn realized that the options available to parents required numerous hours to screen and determine if they were the appropriate choice. She recognized the need for a service that eliminated the “guess work” and countless hours for the parents. She designed a system that allowed her to screen, visit and qualify programs for the families. She or one of her advocates has personally visited and spent time at any program she offers to a parent. Her commitment to each family that contacts Family Hope Line is “we will only provide you with a recommendation that we would personally send our own children”.

Dawn also assists families with Parent Coaching, which is a solution focused approach that allows parents to discover the answers they seek which actually lie within. She knows from first hand experience the feeling of hopelessness and isolation when your teen is spiraling out of control; a shift has occurred in communication, respect has diminished and an overall struggle for "being in control" is undermining the entire family. Through "parent coaching", Dawn is able to share her personal and professional experience; offering parents with new method of thinking, engaging and responding to each other in a whole new way.
